Responsibilities
- Accurately code and submit medical claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Review and appeal denied claims to maximize reimbursement rates
- Maintain patient account records and resolve billing discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS regulations, and coding guidelines (ICD-10, CPT)
- Collaborate with clinical teams to optimize documentation and coding accuracy
- Analyze revenue cycle metrics and implement process improvements
- Train and mentor junior billing staff on best practices
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- 5+ years of medical billing experience with complex insurance plans
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CCS certification required
- Expertise in Epic, Cerner, or similar EHR systems
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and coding guidelines
- Proven track record of reducing claim denials by 20%+
