Responsibilities
- Accurately verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services.
- Submit clean claims to insurance payers using standard forms (CMS-1500) and electronic systems.
- Follow up on denied and unpaid claims to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- Manage accounts receivable and reconcile patient statements and payments.
- Communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers regarding financial obligations.
- Maintain accurate medical billing records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize Revenue Cycle Management software to streamline billing processes.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management.
- Proficiency in CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Experience with clearinghouses and electronic claim submissions (e.g., Change Healthcare, Epic).
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and healthcare billing regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills and high attention to detail.
- AHIMA or AAPC certification preferred.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
