Responsibilities
- Medication Preparation: Accurately prepare and package prescription medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Prescription Verification: Verify prescription orders for completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness before dispensing to patients.
- Inventory Management: Monitor drug inventory levels, place orders for pharmaceutical supplies, and manage returns and exchanges.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with patients to answer questions regarding prescriptions, drug interactions, and general pharmacy operations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal laws, HIPAA regulations, and company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of prescription data, patient profiles, and controlled substance logs.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current PTCB or ExCPT certification required.
- Licensure: Valid Virginia State Pharmacy Technician license.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Pharmacy Technology is a plus.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent mathematical skills for compounding medications.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with pharmacy dispensing software and electronic health records (EHR).
