Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterile and functioning correctly.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and sponges with precision and efficiency.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure and monitor patient vital signs.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including proper positioning, skin preparation, and marking incision sites.
- Manage and inventory surgical supplies to ensure cost-effectiveness and readiness.
- Handle specimens for pathology and assist with wound closure and dressing application.
- Adhere strictly to hospital safety protocols and infection control standards.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of recent experience in a hospital or outpatient surgical setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- In-depth knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical anatomy, and sterilization processes.
- Excellent manual dexterity and ability to perform tasks while standing for extended periods.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a high-pressure environment.
