Responsibilities
- Conduct rapid patient assessments using ESI (Emergency Severity Index) protocols to determine priority of care
- Coordinate with physicians and specialists to develop efficient treatment pathways for diverse patient populations
- Oversee patient flow management in the emergency department, optimizing resource allocation
- Implement crisis intervention protocols for critical conditions including cardiac arrest, stroke, and trauma
- Maintain accurate electronic health records while documenting complex medical assessments
- Provide leadership to junior nursing staff during high-volume emergency situations
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives for triage accuracy metrics
Qualifications
- Current Alaska RN license with unrestricted privileges
- Minimum 5 years emergency department experience with 2+ years in triage role
- Advanced certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) or Triage (TNCC)
- ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications with current renewal dates
- Expertise in ESI 5-level triage methodology and emergency department protocols
- Proven ability to maintain composure during high-stress, high-volume situations
- Experience with Epic EHR systems and emergency department information management
