Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collection following OSHA and CLIA standards
- Process, label, and transport specimens to laboratory with chain-of-custody documentation
- Provide exceptional patient care during blood draws, including pediatric and geriatric populations
- Maintain sterile work environments and calibration of equipment
- Enter patient data and inventory updates into EMR systems
- Train new staff on phlebotomy protocols and quality assurance measures
- Collaborate with nursing staff on specimen collection priorities
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASPT, NCCT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years clinical phlebotomy experience
- Proficiency in handling difficult draws and pediatric patients
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced healthcare settings
- Valid CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Basic computer skills for EMR documentation
- Must pass background check and drug screening
