Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile fields, instruments, and equipment per surgical protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and providing direct support
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce infection control standards throughout perioperative phases
- Account for and manage surgical instruments/supplies before, during, and after procedures
- Prepare patients for surgery including positioning, draping, and applying sterile techniques
- Transport patients to/from operating rooms and provide post-operative care as directed
- Document all perioperative activities and maintain accurate surgical records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 1 year recent surgical tech experience in hospital or ambulatory setting
- Knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation standards
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments and emergency situations
- Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Current BLS certification (or obtainable within 30 days of hire)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
