Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile fields, instruments, and equipment according to surgical protocols
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies
- Maintain sterile environments throughout surgical procedures and enforce aseptic techniques
- Count and document all surgical instruments, sponges, and sharps before and after operations
- Prepare and transport patients to/from operating rooms, ensuring safety and comfort
- Scrub, gown, and assist in emergency situations within the operating room
- Collaborate with surgical team to optimize workflow and ensure efficient case turnover
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent surgical tech experience in a hospital setting
- Knowledge of sterile processing and infection control standards
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure emergency situations
- Strong attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity
- Current BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and on-call
