Responsibilities
- Assess patient acuity using standardized triage protocols (ESI, 5-level systems)
- Collaborate with physicians to determine appropriate care pathways
- Document patient encounters accurately in EHR systems
- Provide clear discharge instructions and follow-up care coordination
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and emergency department policies
- Train new staff on triage procedures and department protocols
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Texas (or compact state)
- Minimum 2 years ED or urgent care experience
- ACLS, BLS, and TNCC certifications required
- Proficiency in Epic or Cerner EMR systems
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Exceptional communication abilities across diverse populations
- Ability to remain calm under high-pressure situations
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
