Responsibilities
- Assess patient acuity using ESI (Emergency Severity Index) protocols within 5 minutes of arrival
- Coordinate with physicians, specialists, and ancillary departments for rapid patient disposition
- Implement electronic triage documentation in Epic EMR with 99% accuracy
- Oversee patient flow management during high-volume surge periods
- Provide critical phone triage for off-site telehealth consultations
- Maintain compliance with TJC, CMS, and California Board of Nursing standards
- Mentor new staff on triage protocols and de-escalation techniques
Qualifications
- Active RN license in California (CA RN # required)
- Minimum 3 years ED or urgent care experience
- BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications (current)
- ESI Triage certification within last 12 months
- Proficient in Epic EMR and telehealth platforms
- Spanish/English bilingual preferred
- BSN or higher degree from accredited institution
- Experience with pediatric and geriatric triage protocols
