Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare, label, and dispense prescription medications under pharmacist supervision
- Manage inventory control, including ordering, receiving, and stocking pharmaceutical supplies
- Process insurance claims and verify patient eligibility for prescription coverage
- Provide exceptional patient counseling on medication usage, side effects, and adherence
- Maintain compliance with FDA, DEA, and state pharmacy regulations
- Train and mentor junior pharmacy technicians on standard operating procedures
- Utilize pharmacy software (e.g., QS1, Omnicell) for prescription processing and record-keeping
Qualifications
- Active Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in retail or hospital pharmacy setting
- Strong knowledge of prescription medications, dosages, and interactions
- Proficiency in pharmacy management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex medical information
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Valid DC Pharmacy Technician license (or ability to obtain immediately)
- Background check and drug screening required
