Responsibilities
- Perform advanced venipuncture, capillary draws, and specialized blood collection procedures
- Train and mentor junior phlebotomy staff on best practices and safety protocols
- Maintain strict compliance with CAP, CLIA, and OSHA regulations
- Operate and troubleshoot advanced laboratory equipment (BD, Beckman Coulter)
- Execute quality control procedures and documentation for specimen integrity
- Collaborate with physicians and lab scientists for complex specimen handling
- Implement infection control measures and emergency response protocols
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP or AMT) with 3+ years clinical experience
- Advanced certification in pediatric or geriatric phlebotomy preferred
- BLS/CPR certification with current renewal
- Proven expertise in difficult vein access and specimen processing
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA and laboratory compliance standards
- Experience with LIS systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Exceptional patient communication and conflict resolution skills
