Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Obtain vital signs, measure weight, height, and temperature, and prepare patients for examinations.
- Admin Support: Manage patient check-ins and check-outs, update medical records, and process insurance verifications accurately.
- Phlebotomy & Procedures: Perform venipuncture, EKGs, and assist physicians with minor medical procedures as directed.
- Communication: Clearly communicate test results and treatment plans to patients and collaborate effectively with the healthcare team.
- Hygiene: Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized exam room environment following strict infection control protocols.
- Documentation: Ensure all patient data is entered into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, RNC, or NCMA) required.
- Licensure: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a physician practice or outpatient setting preferred.
- Skills: Proficient in phlebotomy, EKG administration, and electronic medical records (EMR) software.
- Interpersonal: Excellent customer service skills with the ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Compliance: Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
