Responsibilities
- Perform vital signs, EKGs, and basic diagnostic tests as directed by providers.
- Greet patients and verify demographic information to ensure accurate medical records.
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical instruments for infection control.
- Assist physicians during patient exams and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Administer medications and injections under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse or provider.
- Handle confidential patient information with strict adherence to HIPAA compliance.
- Coordinate patient follow-up appointments and referrals to specialists.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) is preferred.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment as needed.
