Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment by escorting them to the exam room, reviewing their medical history, and measuring vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse).
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, administer injections and immunizations, and prepare blood samples for analysis.
- Manage patient records accurately by updating electronic health records (EHR) and maintaining confidential medical files.
- Coordinate patient appointments, manage incoming calls, and schedule follow-up visits.
- Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, infection control protocols, and safety standards.
- Provide patient education on treatment plans, medications, and preventative care.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.
- High school diploma or GED required; graduation from an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a physician’s office or clinic setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth).
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
