Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Perform routine patient intake, including vitals, weight, and height measurements, and prepare patients for examination by the provider.
- Assistance: Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations, including recording patient histories and drawing blood.
- Administrative Duties: Manage electronic health records (EHR), schedule appointments, verify insurance coverage, and process patient billing accurately.
- Lab Work: Collect and process lab specimens, ensuring all samples are labeled correctly and stored according to safety protocols.
- Communication: Answer phone calls professionally, triage patient inquiries, and provide medication refills under provider guidance.
- Facility Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized exam room environment to ensure patient safety.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (CMA, RMA, or MA certification preferred).
- Experience: 1-2 years of clinical experience in a medical setting is highly preferred.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPR certification required. NHA or AMT certification is a plus.
- Skills: Proficient in electronic health record systems (Epic, AthenaHealth, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Interpersonal: Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients of all backgrounds.
- Reliability: Must be punctual, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
