Responsibilities
- Patient Intake: Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and accurately complete intake forms to streamline the check-in process.
- Vital Signs & Assessments: Measure and record patient vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration rate) and prepare patients for examination.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians during examinations by preparing instruments, drawing blood, administering injections (as permitted by state law), and performing basic lab tests.
- Record Management: Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR) with precise documentation of patient visits, treatments, and follow-up instructions.
- Administrative Coordination: Manage appointment schedules, answer multi-line phone systems professionally, and handle incoming correspondence.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to hospital hygiene protocols and sterilization procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Qualifications
- Certification: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with current CMA, RMA, or MA certification.
- Licensure: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications are required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients of all backgrounds.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Professionalism: Strong attention to detail, time management abilities, and a commitment to patient privacy (HIPAA compliance).
