Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Assist physicians and healthcare providers with patient examinations, taking vital signs, and recording patient history and medical information.
  • Procedural Assistance: Prepare patients for procedures, assist with minor office procedures, and perform EKGs and basic laboratory tests as directed.
  • Administrative Duties: Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, schedule appointments, and maintain accurate medical records in the EMR system.
  • Phlebotomy: Draw blood samples for diagnostic testing and ensure proper sample handling and labeling.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.
  • Weekend Coverage: Ensure all critical clinical functions are executed smoothly and efficiently during weekend shifts to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

  • Certification: Current CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), or MA (NCMA) certification required.
  • Licensure: Valid Illinois State Medical Assistant license.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or clinic setting preferred.
  • BLS Certification: Must possess current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Skills: Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKG, and electronic health records (EHR) software is highly desirable.
