Responsibilities
- Accurately code and bill medical services using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Verify insurance coverage and pre-authorizations for all patient services
- Submit electronic claims to commercial payers and government programs (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Resolve claim denials and manage accounts receivable follow-up
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and billing compliance standards
- Generate monthly reports on key performance metrics
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure documentation accuracy
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a clinical setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification preferred
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, NextGen, Athenahealth)
- Expert knowledge of insurance claim processes and payer requirements
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication abilities for patient and insurer interactions
- Familiarity with Arizona Medicaid and Blue Cross Blue Shield protocols
