Responsibilities
- Accurately code and submit medical claims to insurance companies using ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits for patients prior to service delivery
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding claims
- Process patient payments and maintain billing documentation
- Resolve billing discrepancies through direct communication with payers
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations
- Utilize Epic EHR and Athenahealth billing systems
- Train staff on billing processes and compliance updates
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in outpatient clinical setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Expert knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Proficiency in EHR/billing software (Epic, Athenahealth preferred)
- Strong understanding of insurance claim processes and appeals
- Exceptional attention to detail with 99% accuracy rate
- Experience with Medicare/Medicaid billing regulations
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
