Responsibilities
- Accurately code and submit medical claims using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to service delivery
- Manage accounts receivable and resolve claim denials efficiently
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with HIPAA and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation discrepancies
- Generate monthly financial reports for department leadership
- Utilize Epic and NextGen EMR systems for billing operations
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficiency in medical coding systems and claim submission processes
- Strong knowledge of insurance policies (Medicare, Medi-Cal, private payers)
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and billing software platforms
