Responsibilities
- Medical Coding & Billing: Accurately complete and submit CMS-1500 claims for both primary and secondary insurance payers.
- Denial Management: Monitor accounts receivable, identify denial trends, and proactively follow up on outstanding claims.
- Patient Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services rendered to prevent claim denials.
- Charge Entry: Perform precise charge entry into the EHR system, ensuring alignment with medical records.
- Compliance: Adhere to strict HIPAA regulations and internal compliance protocols to protect patient data.
- Reporting: Generate and analyze financial reports to identify opportunities for process improvement.
Qualifications
- Certification: CPC, CPC-A, or RHIT credential preferred (or currently enrolled in a medical billing program).
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner) and billing software.
- Medical Knowledge: Strong understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance providers.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in data entry and financial documentation.
