Responsibilities
- Verify patient demographics and insurance eligibility to ensure accurate billing.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) electronically.
- Follow up on denied or unpaid claims and appeal when necessary to maximize revenue.
- Manage patient invoicing statements and ensure timely collection.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical billing records in the EHR system.
- Generate and review monthly financial reports to identify trends and discrepancies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Health Information Management preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding (ICD-10/CPT).
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner).
- Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement models and regulatory compliance (HIPAA).
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
