Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff before, during, and after surgical procedures to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
- Prepare the operating room by arranging instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring sterility and functionality.
- Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and the sterile field throughout the surgical intervention.
- Accurately count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to prevent retained foreign bodies.
- Facilitate patient turnover by safely transporting patients to and from the operating suite.
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team to anticipate needs and ensure a smooth workflow.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of surgical equipment and instruments as directed.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Operating Room Technician (CORT) certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience working in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center.
- Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, procedures, and aseptic technique.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as required by the role.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Valid California Driverβs License and reliable transportation.
