Responsibilities
- Process and submit clean claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits before service delivery
- Resolve claim denials and appeals with timely follow-up
- Maintain accurate patient billing records in EHR systems
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and payer regulations
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding billing inquiries
- Analyze aging reports to identify and collect outstanding balances
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding
- Expertise with EHR systems (Epic or Cerner preferred)
- Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes and payer policies
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance standards
- High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree preferred
