Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records and insurance information to ensure billing accuracy.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) in a timely manner.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and appeal denied claims to maximize revenue.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
- Update patient records and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to reconcile monthly financial statements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Coding preferred.
- Certification (CPC, CMA, RHIT) is a plus but not always required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical billing or a related field.
- Proficient in medical billing software (Epic, Cerner, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
