Responsibilities
- Accurately review medical records and patient information to ensure proper coding and billing.
- Submit and follow up on claims with insurance carriers (BCBS, United, Medicare, etc.) to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Manage patient accounts and resolve billing discrepancies, including denials and adjustments.
- Utilize EHR systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth) to document financial interactions.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal company policies.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding account balances and payment plans.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Medical Billing/Coding preferred.
- Certification (e.g., CPC, CBCS) is a significant plus.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Proficiency with standard office software and EHR systems.
- Strong understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
