Responsibilities
- Verify and code medical records using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines to ensure accurate claim submission.
- Submit claims to various insurance payers (Blue Cross, Aetna, United Healthcare) and follow up on pending payments.
- Analyze denied and rejected claims to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Manage patient billing inquiries, handle co-pays, and resolve account discrepancies professionally.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records in our practice management software (Epic, AthenaHealth).
- Generate and review monthly reports on revenue, collections, and denials.
- Collaborate with office staff to ensure seamless communication regarding patient accounts.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
- Certification (CPC, COC, CPC-H) is a strong plus but not mandatory.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical billing or coding.
- Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and ICD-10/CPT coding systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and billing software.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
