Responsibilities
- Accurately verify and enter patient demographic and insurance information into the billing system.
- Submit claims to insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, Private Payer) electronically and manually.
- Follow up on outstanding claims, appeal denied claims, and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements and post payments to patient accounts.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical coding standards (ICD-10, CPT).
- Collaborate with patients to resolve billing inquiries and collect outstanding balances.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
- Certification (CPC, CBCS, RHIT) is a plus but not mandatory.
- 1+ years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
