Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient medical records and insurance information to ensure accuracy.
- Submit clean claims to insurance payers (Blue Cross, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, etc.) electronically and by paper.
- Analyze denied or rejected claims and prepare appeals with supporting documentation.
- Generate and send monthly statements to patients for outstanding balances.
- Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers regarding billing inquiries and account status.
- Stay updated on current healthcare regulations, ICD-10 coding guidelines, and CPT coding updates.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic, or Cerner).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently with a flexible schedule and meet tight deadlines.
