Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient demographics and insurance information to ensure accuracy before claim submission.
- Code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Submit claims to insurance payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) via Electronic Health Records (EHR) and clearinghouses.
- Monitor claim status, follow up on pending claims, and appeal denials to secure payment.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and provide exceptional customer service regarding financial obligations.
- Reconcile daily payments and post transactions to patient accounts.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Medical Billing, Health Information Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- CPC or CBA certification preferred but not required for immediate consideration.
- 2+ years of experience in medical billing, coding, or claims processing.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding sets.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, NextGen).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
