Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records to assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT-10 codes.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) via clearinghouse.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid claims and denials.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and ensure high patient satisfaction scores.
- Collaborate with the billing team to resolve complex coding issues.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and local healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CPC, CPC-H, CEM, or RHIA/RHIT preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner).
- Strong understanding of the revenue cycle management process.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
