Responsibilities
- Review medical records and assign accurate CPT and ICD-10 codes.
- Verify patient insurance information and submit claims to commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid carriers.
- Perform timely follow-up on denied or unpaid claims to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient billing records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process patient payments and handle billing inquiries via phone or email.
- Collaborate with medical providers to resolve any billing discrepancies or claim issues.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in medical billing, claims processing, or coding.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth).
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency and typing speed.
