As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of patient billing processes.
Responsibilities
- Accurately complete and submit medical claims (CMS-1500 and electronic) to insurance payers.
- Verify and validate patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to service.
- Review and appeal denied or rejected claims to maximize reimbursement.
- Manage patient billing statements and resolve outstanding account balances.
- Code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal billing policies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or similar preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in medical billing or coding (CPC, COC, or RHIT credentials are a plus).
- Strong working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance rules.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, or AthenaHealth experience preferred).
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced office setting.
