Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and collect required demographic information.
- Submit clean, accurate medical claims to insurance carriers (CMS-1500 and electronic).
- Follow up on unpaid claims and appeals to maximize revenue cycle efficiency.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in practice management software.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CPC, COC, or CMRS (preferred but not required).
- Previous experience in medical billing, coding, or healthcare administration (1+ years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner).
- Exceptional attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
