Responsibilities
- Review medical records and coding documentation to ensure accuracy before billing.
- Submit claims to insurance companies (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and collect necessary copayments and deductibles.
- Resolve billing discrepancies, denials, and appeals efficiently.
- Manage patient inquiries regarding statements and account balances.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare compliance regulations and coding updates.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Coding preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and billing software (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic).
- Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and insurance representatives.
