Responsibilities
- Perform complex venipuncture and capillary blood draws with minimal patient discomfort
- Operate advanced laboratory equipment including automated analyzers
- Process and label specimens with 100% accuracy following HIPAA protocols
- Train junior phlebotomists on best practices and quality control procedures
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment maintenance
- Collaborate with physicians and lab staff to optimize patient testing protocols
- Maintain detailed patient records and electronic documentation
- Implement infection control standards across all procedures
Qualifications
- 3+ years of phlebotomy experience in a clinical or hospital setting
- Current Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification from ASCP or equivalent
- BLS/CPR certification with current renewal
- Proven track record of zero specimen errors in quality audits
- Experience with pediatric, geriatric, and difficult-vein populations
- Proficiency in LIS/HIS systems and electronic health records
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Exceptional communication skills in English and Spanish preferred
