Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical claims for accuracy, completeness, and coding compliance before submission.
- Submit claims to private and government payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurers) electronically.
- Follow up on denied or unpaid claims to identify root causes and resubmit for payment.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and resolve outstanding balances efficiently.
- Update patient demographics and insurance information in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and company internal controls.
- Process patient payments and post transactions to accounts receivable.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing or Coding preferred.
- Certification (CPC, COC, CMRS) is a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and claims processing.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficient in EHR software such as Epic, AthenaHealth, or Cerner.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with high volumes of data.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance representatives.
