Responsibilities
- Accurately verify patient insurance information and eligibility before services are rendered.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance carriers using CMS-1500 and UB-04 forms.
- Follow up on outstanding claims and effectively manage claim denials to ensure maximum revenue cycle efficiency.
- Maintain and update patient medical records and billing files within the EHR system.
- Communicate clearly with patients regarding billing questions, statements, and account status.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal company policies.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or certification in Medical Billing/Coding (CPC, CPC-H, or CMA preferred).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of progressive experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Proficient in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner).
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
