Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient medical records and demographics to ensure billing accuracy.
- Submit and follow up on claims with insurance carriers (including Medicare and Medicaid) to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Manage and resolve claim denials and rejections efficiently.
- Track accounts receivable and identify delinquent accounts for follow-up.
- Utilize EHR/EMR software (e.g., Epic, Cerner) to document billing activities and generate reports.
- Collaborate with the billing team and healthcare providers to clarify coding and billing issues.
- Stay current with healthcare regulations, coding updates (ICD-10, CPT), and HIPAA compliance standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in medical billing, medical coding, or revenue cycle management.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and practice management systems.
- Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to handle high volumes of data accurately.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
