Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Submit clean claims to insurance companies and government payers (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid claims
- Resolve billing discrepancies through insurance verification and patient communication
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal audit standards
- Utilize Epic and Medisoft EHR systems for documentation and reporting
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure charge capture accuracy
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a hospital or clinic setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Expertise in ICD-10, CPT coding, and CMS-1500 forms
- Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes and reimbursement cycles
- Proficiency in medical billing software (Epic, Medisoft, or equivalent)
- Exceptional attention to detail and data entry accuracy
- Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment
- Valid Michigan driver's license for occasional off-site meetings
