Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits to ensure accurate billing.
- Code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Submit claims to various insurance payers (Blue Cross, United, Aetna) via electronic systems.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and manage denial appeals effectively.
- Maintain accurate patient records and billing documentation.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal policies.
- Collaborate with collections team to resolve outstanding balances.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or claims processing.
- Certification (CPC, CCS, RHIA, or CPC-H) is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems (Epic, AthenaHealth, or Cerner preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of current HCPCS and ICD-10 coding.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
