Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS standards
- Submit clean claims to insurance companies and government payers (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on denied/underpaid claims
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits before service delivery
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and payer regulations
- Generate monthly billing reports and analyze denial trends
- Collaborate with clinical staff to resolve billing discrepancies
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems
- Experience with electronic claims submission and EDI
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
