Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and submit medical claims to insurance carriers (Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid) to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Verify patient demographics and insurance eligibility to minimize claim denials and rejections.
- Analyze denied claims, identify root causes, and appeal rejected claims to recover revenue.
- Post payments and patient remittances to patient accounts and ensure balances are reconciled correctly.
- Maintain accurate billing records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding their financial responsibilities and insurance coverage.
- Collaborate with the collections team to resolve outstanding accounts receivable.
Qualifications
- Certification as a CPC, COC, or RHIT is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, AthenaHealth, Cerner, or Meditech).
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a high volume of claims efficiently.
- Basic understanding of healthcare compliance and regulatory standards.
