Job Overview:
As a Phlebotomy Tech, you will be the first point of contact for many patients. Your primary responsibility will be to safely collect blood samples for clinical testing, ensuring accuracy and patient comfort at every step.
Responsibilities
- Specimen Collection: Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients, explain procedures, and maintain a calm, professional demeanor to reduce anxiety.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label, log, and transport specimens to the laboratory following strict chain-of-custody protocols.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict OSHA and HIPAA guidelines to ensure a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock phlebotomy supplies, including tubes, needles, and bandages.
- Quality Assurance: Verify patient identification and specimen integrity before processing.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required (Medical Assistant or CNA certification is a plus).
- Experience: No prior experience necessary. We provide extensive training for the right candidates.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer Skills: Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic health records.
- Soft Skills: Strong empathy and the ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
