Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications according to physician orders and safety protocols.
- Verify patient information and insurance details to ensure proper billing and authorization.
- Assist the pharmacist in compounding medications and managing the pharmacy inventory.
- Provide outstanding customer service by answering questions regarding prescriptions, refills, and general pharmacy information.
- Manage incoming calls and route urgent messages to the appropriate staff member promptly.
- Ensure the pharmacy is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies at all times.
- Monitor expiration dates on medications and perform inventory audits.
Qualifications
- Current Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and medical abbreviations.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and a customer-service oriented attitude.
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with pharmacy management software (e.g., Cerner, McKesson).
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.
