Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Vital Signs: Accurately monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse, and report any significant changes to the nursing supervisor immediately.
- Mobility Support: Assist patients with ambulation, transfers, and positioning to ensure their safety and prevent falls.
- Medication Management: Remind clients to take their prescribed medications and document compliance according to state regulations.
- Household Assistance: Prepare light meals and assist with light housekeeping tasks specifically related to patient care.
- Communication: Maintain open and clear communication with clients, family members, and the care coordination team.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Active, unencumbered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the District of Columbia.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience: Previous experience in home health or long-term care is preferred but not mandatory for the right candidate.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to demonstrate patience and compassion.
- Availability: Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Transportation: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
