Responsibilities
- Patient Intake & Vital Signs: Greet patients warmly, verify personal and insurance information, and accurately record vital signs (blood pressure, height, weight, temperature).
- Clinical Support: Assist providers with patient examinations, prepare treatment rooms, and sterilize instruments according to protocol.
- Procedures: Perform routine procedures including phlebotomy, EKGs, and administering injections/immunizations under physician supervision.
- Chart Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR), ensuring all documentation is compliant with HIPAA regulations.
- Front Desk Support: Handle phone inquiries, schedule appointments, and manage patient check-in/check-out processes efficiently.
- Lab Coordination: Collect and process lab specimens for analysis in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Certification: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program and current certification (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) preferred.
- Licensure: Current Florida Medical Assistant license.
- Experience: 1-2 years of clinical experience in a physician practice or medical setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Proficient in phlebotomy, EKG, and electronic health record systems (Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients of all ages.
- Compliance: Strong understanding of medical terminology, HIPAA privacy laws, and infection control standards.
