Responsibilities
- Greet and Check-in Patients: Verify patient information, update medical records, and prepare patients for examinations by collecting vitals and medical history.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians and nurses with patient examinations, procedures, and minor medical treatments as directed.
- Laboratory Duties: Perform basic lab tests, including blood draws, urine analysis, and EKGs, ensuring accuracy and safety protocols are followed.
- Administrative Tasks: Manage phone calls, schedule appointments, process insurance referrals, and handle medical coding/billing documentation.
- Medication Management: Prepare and administer medications as prescribed, maintaining strict adherence to safety and privacy regulations (HIPAA).
- Patient Education: Provide clear instructions regarding medications, post-procedure care, and follow-up appointments.
- Inventory Control: Monitor and restock medical supplies, ensuring examination rooms are clean, organized, and fully equipped.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (CMA or RMA certification preferred).
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting is preferred; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are mandatory.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology; proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Interpersonal: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain accurate records and follow strict safety protocols.
- Availability: Must be available to work part-time hours, including some evenings or weekends as needed.
