Responsibilities
- Patient Interaction: Ensure patients are comfortable, calm, and well-informed throughout the blood collection process.
- Specimen Collection: Perform venipunctures and capillary sticks efficiently and accurately, adhering to aseptic technique.
- Quality Assurance: Label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory while maintaining strict chain-of-custody protocols.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations, HIPAA privacy policies, and infection control standards.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock phlebotomy supplies and equipment as needed.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Phlebotomy Specialist certification required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of professional phlebotomy experience preferred, but willing to train dedicated candidates.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to perform blood draws on adults and pediatric patients with high success rates.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to de-escalate anxious patients and communicate clearly with medical staff.
- Flexibility: Availability to work part-time hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
